How a smooth SOC transition and our holistic IT security consulting strengthened DKV Mobility’s cyber resilience.

Implementing state-of-the-art technology with tailored action plans and clear communication.

The challenge

Unlike many other companies, DKV Mobility was well prepared when digitalization really took off in recent years. They had set the course early on for a “cloud first” strategy and had already migrated much of their IT infrastructure to cloud-based solutions. However, digitalization brought another challenge to the forefront: the ever-increasing cyber threats.

“At the time, we felt like we were blind in one eye. That’s why we were looking for a solution that would give us more visibility into attacks. And answer our most pressing question: Is something happening that we might not even be tracking right now?“

Kenneth Doehmen, IT System Engineer, DKV Mobility

Because DKV Mobility was also pursuing a “one vendor” strategy in addition to its “cloud first” approach – and had already licensed several Microsoft products – the company was specifically looking for a service provider that specialized in Microsoft security solutions. The goal: to work together to do more with less and get the most out of their existing licenses.

The solution

Following a recommendation from Microsoft, they found just the right partner in water. At the beginning of our collaboration, the focus was on security consulting. We carried out the onboarding process using a new model: On a digital dashboard, small work packages were stored detailing specific tasks for DKV Mobility and our team.

“The onboarding worked really well, and water gave us comprehensive advice on how to get even more out of our products. Especially the low-hanging fruits – small optimizations with a big impact for our security – helped us a lot.”

To achieve the goal of incident visibility, we quickly implemented a SIEM solution with Microsoft Azure that can aggregate and process all incidents from the existing Microsoft 365 Defender products.

“Thanks to the SIEM, we now had a system that gave us much more information than before. To stay on top of things, water advised us on how to further simplify and automate security processes. What also helped us: A clear definition of workflows, especially when dealing with incidents.”

The benefit

With the combination of Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft 365 Defender family, DKV Mobility now has a state-of-the-art security solution that is monitored around the clock in our water SOC. At the same time, consulting continues to play an important role in our common security concept, and we carry out assessments at regular intervals. Based on the results, we draw up specific action plans to further optimize security at DKV Mobility.

“Another big advantage of working with water is that they are always up to date on the latest issues in our industry and that they have all the necessary blueprints in their drawer. So when we want to implement something new, we can get started right away.”
