Riding the artificial intelligence wave at water: A not-so-complete overview of our Microsoft Copilot offerings

Since OpenAI made artificial intelligence accessible with ChatGPT, things have been going at a pretty fast pace. New developments and features are introduced almost every week. And the importance of AI for IT security cannot be underestimated. As a Microsoft Copilot for Security Private Preview Partner, we were involved in the development of this innovative technology at an early stage and have since seen the use of AI-powered solutions become increasingly popular both for us and our customers. With Copilot, Microsoft has designed a generative AI that can be used in many different areas – and for specific use cases that have a positive impact on your IT security.

To help you stay on top of the rapid developments, here’s an overview of how you can use AI to improve the protection of your corporate data. We show you:

• Which Microsoft Copilot is relevant to IT Security

• How to use artificial intelligence intelligently

• How your organization can easily and securely implement AI capabilities

• Which of your employees benefit from artificial intelligence and how

And on our new focus page dedicated to Microsoft Copilot, we even give you plenty of examples for efficient prompting – but more on that later. So, we’ve got a lot to cover in the next few lines. Let’s dive in.

A brief introduction to Microsoft Copilot

Copilot is Microsoft’s AI application based on ChatGPT’s Large Language Model. Specialized forms of Copilot can be found in almost every Microsoft product, from the search engine to Windows 11. Of the many different Copilot iterations, two are of particular interest to the IT security industry: Copilot for Security and Copilot for Microsoft 365.

Copilot for Security is an AI-powered security solution that increases the efficiency and capabilities of defenders to improve security outcomes with machine speed and quality. It helps automate incident response and gain deep visibility into cyber threats.

Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an AI-powered tool integrated into the Microsoft 365 suite that is designed to have a huge impact on the productivity, creativity, and efficiency of any organization. It can be used directly in applications such as Word, Excel or Outlook.

Strengthen IT Security with Copilot for Security

Many companies want to harness the power of artificial intelligence to further improve their IT security, but are faced with the question: “How can I best use Copilot for Security in my organization?” Well, for starters, there are two ways to add Microsoft’s new AI solution to the security tools you’re currently using.

  1. Embedded version: The embedded version allows you to use Copilot for Security directly from tools such as Microsoft Sentinel or Microsoft Defender XDR.
  2. Standalone experience: The standalone version is designed for users who prefer a dedicated environment or want to integrate additional third-party systems via plug-ins, such as an existing non-Microsoft SIEM.
  3. The good news is: You don’t have to figure out the best way to implement Copilot for Security in your organization on your own. As a Microsoft for Security partner, we’ve spent the last few months developing and creating resources to help you get started with this groundbreaking tech:
  • Copilot for Security workshop: In this 2 x 4 hour workshop, we’ll give you a comprehensive overview of Microsoft Copilot for Security and demonstrate how it complements your existing Microsoft Defender XDR products.
  • Copilot for Security webinars: We also provide insights into the benefits of Copilot for Security in our regular webinars – often in the context of very specific use cases from our day-to-day work as an IT security company. Sounds interesting? Then we recommend to watch one of our current issues with the title: “Copilot for Security and the Future of Cyber Defense”.
  • Copilot for Security proof-of-concept: We’re currently running several proof-of-concept (PoC) studies with our customers to prepare them for implementing Microsoft’s new AI solution. We’re demonstrating how Copilot for Security can be used in their organization’s real-world environment and how well it integrates with their existing IT landscape. And we ensure that the AI-powered tool is practical, effective, and will harden their IT security to prevent cyberattacks.

Boosting efficiency with Copilot for Microsoft 365

As mentioned at the beginning, Copilot for Microsoft 365 plays an important role alongside Copilot for Security when it comes to IT security. However, while the former focuses on protection against cyberattacks, our task with Copilot for Microsoft 365 is more about data protection-compliant integration. After all, Copilot for M365 integrates directly with Office applications such as Word, Excel or Outlook – and requires access to critical corporate data to realize its efficiency and productivity benefits. To help you get going without compromising on compliance, security, and privacy, we’ve designed a workshop that will show you how to ensure a smooth implementation of Copilot for Microsoft 365 using Microsoft Purview:

  • Copilot for Microsoft 365 workshop: In two workshops – one for E3 license holders, the other for E5 license holders – we’ll provide you with an implementation framework that gives you full visibility and control over your most important asset – your data – while unlocking the full potential of Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Go to our 18-Day Get Ready Standard Workshop for Microsoft E3 license holders.
Go to our 26-Day Get Ready All You Can Eat Workshop for Microsoft E5 license holders.

How to use Copilot for Microsoft 365

Now that we have a better understanding of what Copilot for Security and Copilot for Microsoft 365 are all about, the next question is: how do you actually work with them? Because one thing is clear: everyone – from the CISO to the IT administrator to the identity expert – has very different needs and requirements. That is why we have created a dedicated website to give you a comprehensive overview of the personas Copilot is relevant for. For each persona, you’ll find:

  • Persona-related pain points that AI can solve
  • Benefits that each persona can get from working with Microsoft’s AI tools
  • Specific prompts from the persona’s daily work to give you an idea of the practical use
